The airport should have an expansion plan ready that includes expanding both terminals, major renovation of Terminal 1, a new international concourse, and a plan for a reliever airport that can handle commercial flights if MSP reaches maximum capacity. By 2040 passenger demand from the Twin Cities to Europe and Asia will increase dramatically. The airport needs a new international concourse in the near future to handle new international carriers and any international expansion by Delta Air Lines. There has been talk of expanding Terminal 2 so all carriers besides Delta move from Terminal 1, which makes sense if Delta expands operations at MSP. Hopefully the Metropolitan Airports Commission continues their effort to attract British Airways and Lufthansa to Minneapolis.
